In 2008, biologists with the U.S. Forest Service and PPL Montana logged
the first-ever sighting of the Plains Spadefoot Toad in western Montana near
Hebgen Lake. In 2009, intensive surveys located 3 breeding locations
of this rarely-seen reptile near the Madison Arm at Hebgen.

OUR MISSION ~ To create a Wetlands Legacy for Montana by protecting, restoring, and enhancing Montana's wetlands, riparian areas, and associated uplands through a fully integrated, voluntary partnership.
OUR VISION ~ Wetlands are among Montana's greatest treasures. Montana's wetlands, riparian areas, and associated uplands are essential to maintain water quality and our supply of clean water, and contribute in many ways to Montana's quality of life. Our vision is that Montana's wetlands are healthy, protected, and fully functioning.
OUR GOAL ~ To ensure protection of Montana's wetlands, riparian areas, and associated uplands by creating an understanding and appreciation of these special places and how they add value to our lives. Each year, we're working to protect 50,000 acres of ecologically important wetlands, riparian areas, and associated watershed lands.
